Extern Disability Respite Service (EDRS)
Extern's Outreach Disability Respite Service (EDRS-known as Cratloe respite centre) provides individualised care for adults and children.
Our Disabilities Services provide a needs-led, creative, flexible and person-centred approach to supporting people with a disability and/or autism.
The service is open to all Community Health Organisations (CHOs) areas and is funded on an individual basis. The service attained it's registration in September 2023.
It is inspected by Health Information and Quality Authority and has spaces for up to four residents per night.
Typically residents are collected by staff and brought to and from respite, as transport can be an issue for families in such situations.
Each resident will have an individual support plan which details their likes and dislikes, their interests along with details of the key individuals in their lives.
In addition, each resident is encouraged to and supported in personalising their living space .
Each resident is empowered to be the central person in planning and making key decisions in their lives. Each resident is supported to take positive risks in their life, which is then risk assessed with staff to ensure that risks can be managed.
