Extern's Communities in Transition Project Launches Larne Community Fridge and Garden

Extern's Communities in Transition project in Larne is thrilled to announce that the Larne Community Fridge and Garden is now open and ready to welcome the community! This exciting initiative is designed to bring people together, reduce food waste, and provide a shared space where everyone can benefit.

The Community Fridge is open to all, offering a place where surplus food can be shared rather than wasted. Whether you have extra food to donate or could benefit from picking up fresh produce, the fridge is here to support you. Alongside this, the Community Garden will provide a welcoming space for people to come together, grow fresh produce, and take part in community activities.

We want to say a special thank you to former Extern Community Champion, Lynsey Poole, whose dedication and leadership have made this project a reality. Her hard work in securing funding and bringing people together has created a sustainable, community-led resource that will make a real difference.

You can find the Larne Community Fridge and Garden behind Larne Leisure Centre, just across from the seafront car park at Larne Promenade. The team has worked hard to get everything set up, and we can’t wait to see how this project will grow with the support of the local community.
