The Communities in Transition (CIT) Project aims to support eight geographic areas, where there has been a history of paramilitary activity and coercive control, to transition into communities where paramilitary activity no longer plays a role
What we do:
- Recruit and train Community Health Champions
- Offer one-to-one intervention to those impacted by drugs, alcohol and mental health.
- Engage with and raise awareness of available services in the local area through the production of a local resource guide.
- Produce a training calendar which will offer free training for the local community based on identified needs.
- Hold awareness raising and engagement events in the local area.
- In consultation with the local community develop informative and interactive fact sheets in relation to key issues and distribute these effectively.
What is the referral process?
If you know someone who may benefit from one-to-one intervention in relation to drugs, alcohol or mental health you can refer them to our service.
We accept referrals from all sources including self-referrals.
Referral criteria:
• Be aged 18 +
• Live in Larne, Carrickfergus or Greater Shankill area
• Linked to one or more statutory agencies
