Supported by the Public Health Agency and Belfast City Council, our team harnesses their specialised expertise to assist businesses and stakeholders within the city centre in effectively managing challenges associated with injecting drug use.

Throughout 2021, the team engaged with a total of 794 service users, collected 1,943 discarded needles in the city centre and surrounding areas, and provided 742 Naloxone anti-opiate kits to support those who are at risk of overdose.

One of our key initiatives involves the diligent collection and safe disposal of improperly discarded injecting equipment, contributing to a safer environment for everyone.

As part of our proactive approach, the project extends support to service users by providing Naloxone, a crucial medication designed to counteract the effects of opioids.

In the event of an overdose, the swift administration of Naloxone offers a vital window for intervention.

This intervention, when timely, can potentially avert fatalities caused by respiratory failure, providing essential time for paramedics to arrive and offer life-saving assistance.
