Extern, the leading social justice Charity has responded to the death of another person from homelessness in Belfast over the weekend. The Charity provides a homeless support service, which is funded by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, in conjunction with Supporting People and the Belfast Trust. A dedicated social work outreach team provides specialist assessment and intensive support to those who are homeless, at risk of homelessness and who have additional needs relating to mental and physical health, substance use, learning disability, offending, families and asylum.

The Ulster University has announced the shortlist of leading employers that are inspiring and developing Northern Ireland's future workforce ahead of its Placement Employer of the Year Awards.

The awards are designed to acknowledge the valuable partnership between Ulster University and local industry, which is producing highly skilled graduates who are driving indigenous business growth and attracting inward investment to the region.

Extern this week responded to the death of a service user, and former resident of the Ormeau Centre, who was found dead in his home on Wednesday 17 February 2016.

Commenting on the death, an Extern spokesperson said;

Travellers in the south are being consulted by the Department of Justice to develop the next 5 year National Traveller and Roma Inclusion Strategy.
The consultation process is in 4 phases
Phase one: The Department asked for submissions on possible themes for the strategy. Travellers working for Extern fed into this process through Pavee Point and the National Traveller Women’s Network,as Extern have Traveller representatives on the Board of Directors with these national bodies.
