Patrick Donovan T.D. Minister of State for Tourism and Sport visited Extern’s Limerick Office today (Friday, 11 November), to hear more about the organisation’s innovative Jumping Hurdles Horse Project, which was recently awarded £30K from the national Coca Cola Thank You Fund. The largest recipient of the naitonal fund, the Project is using young people’s love of horses in Limerick City to increase their employment chances, and to counter the culture of criminality in disadvantaged areas.

A unique project from the Limerick team which will use young people’s love of horses in Limerick City to increase their employment chances, and to counter the culture of criminality in disadvantaged areas, has today received €30,000 of funding from the national Coca Cola Thank You Fund at a gala ceremony in Dublin. The Limerick Jumping Hurdles Horse Project is the largest single recipient from the Fund.

30 young people from The Pathways Project were delighted to take part in Anti-racism workshops in the new National Football Stadium (Windsor Park) in October 2016. They young people enjoyed facilitated discussions held in the grounds of the newly opened stadium and even got to sample some of the cake left over from the official opening at the Northern Ireland v’s San Marino game on 8th October 2016.

The Irish FA, as part of their ‘Football For All Strategy’ are delighted to announce a new and innovative partnership with Syrian Refugee Support Team. This partnership will develop programmes and initiatives using football as a vehicle to engage and integrate refugees into Northern Ireland Communities.

Extern and the Irish FA will work together to engage the Syrian community in the local areas using football. This will involve an eight-week programme with specialist coaching and nutritionist expertise.
