Extern Dundalk held a coffee morning on the 11th May 2016, in the Redeemer Resource Centre in Dundalk, where Extern Dundalk are now based.

A short PowerPoint presentation was delivered by Extern in relation to the outline of the Extern Linx Project which has been delivering services within the North Louth area for 13 years.
The gathering served two purposes where Extern wanted to inform Social workers where Extern are now based since November 2015, also to update new Social workers in relation to the Linx programme.

A special graduation took place today at the Belfast Activity Centre in South Belfast for young people across Belfast and as far as Syria who completed the Prince’s Trust Get Started programme. The group of 18-20 year olds from both sides of the community in Belfast welcomed their Syrian team mates in a week of outdoor pursuits from kayaking and mountain biking to rock climbing and caving.

This week Extern Works hosted a visit from Belfast City Council HR Manager, Mary Cunningham. Mary gave a presentation on the recruitment process for Belfast City Council covering topics including the recruitment process, interview skills and completing applications, the different job roles available and the disclosure process for working with convictions at BCC.

Feedback was very positive from all service users in attendance.

Paul and Jim from the Erne & Melvin fish hatchery delivering 500 Lough Erne trout to kick start the fishing at the site of our new Fishing Village on the outskirts of Enniskillen. This project is being kick started through Externs Enterprise Fund and will be working with a number of partner agencies to develop a regional angling hub using the medium of fishing to address a number of individual and community needs.

Extern, the leading social justice Charity has today been awarded a major contract by the Irish Youth Justice Service to deliver a ‘Bail Supervision Scheme’ across Ireland. The Dublin based contract, will see Extern take forward a pilot scheme working alongside the Irish Youth Justice Service through the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, to ensure young people on bail and their families are supported through a dedicated scheme to address their needs.
